Google Ads

Thursday 20 November, 2003 ( 7:01PM GMT)

Every time I find myself on the Accessify website, Google AdWord adverts manically flicker for a few seconds as I wait for the pages to load. The flickering gives me a brief headache and makes me feel glad I don't suffer from epilepsy. It's quite likely some form of browser bug, but I take it as an omen. 'Doooon't uuuuse Gooooogle aaaaads' a ghostly voice whispers to me.

HTML Dog has turned out to be much more successful than I had anticipated and I would be lying if I said the thought of putting a few ads on the pages in an attempt to cover some of the hosting costs hadn't crossed my mind. But I'm really not convinced and Google ads, which seem to be on more web pages than they're not haven't gone any way to change my mind.

I like the idea of text rather than graphical adverts but I don't like the srewey JavaScript code and I don't like the inability to customize the code (like to use XHTML and CSS for example).

No ads for HTML Dog. Not just yet.

Ads are OK. If you've written all these tutorials that people read they won't mind seeing ads.

Yes, I love the site you have put together here, and I refer people to it a lot. I doubt seriously that anyone would mind a few Google ads, especially considering they are just text. Keep up the good work.

The problem with Google adds is that they aren't scriptid with the DOM. Therefore they will not work on your site, which is send as application/xhtml+xml. Google should get more e-mails about that.

The pages on HTML Dog are only served as application/xhtml+xml to those browsers that accept that type (which is small minority), so ads could be displayed on those other browsers that don't support it. That aside, it would be infinitely preferable if Google could just provide blocks of HTML to directly include in a page.

google ads are one of the best ways to make the site looks good. n if the color of the google ads matches to your site theme then its a worth. Google ads have both its advantages and disadvantages. it all depends how we take these google ads or how we look into them. Regards.

I wish the goodle ads would also open the page in a new window. They always have them leave your website.
